New Music – Dear Heart
The track opens ecclesiastically with an under-bed of organ. The vocal melody feels almost hymn-like but the lyrical story is not celestial but rather very human. Fergus wrote the track at a time when he thought he was going to lose his mother, and he pours it all out in Dear Heart. As the track progresses it grows into a crashing, cathartic crescendo.
Alongside attention from us, Fergus has also been picked up by BBC Radio 1 and Radio 6 Music, as well as Radio X and Clash. He certainly has all it takes to become a household name. I suspect it’s only a matter of time.
